Sick leave.

Under current rules, sick leave compensation must be paid to an employee in the event of his/her illness, injury and when an employee is caring for a sick family member. The amount of the compensation paid to an employee is set at between 60 per cent and 100 per cent of the employee's earnings, depending on the employee's work history and other circumstances. In cases of a labour related injury or occupational disease, the amount of sick leave compensation is 100 per cent of the employee's earnings. Sick leave compensation is covered by the Russian State Social Insurance Fund.

An employee is required to submit a medical certificate in respect of any absence after his/her recovery and return to work. Generally, employment cannot be terminated by an employer while an employee is on sick leave.
